TOP END STORIES meaning true stories about the top end of the N.T (Northern Territory). There are stories about buffalo, wild pigs, cattle, and people. I am not really saying that there are 1001 top end stories here but they do exist and you have to find them.
The author is a well-known Territory resident named Billy Lowery. He tells a large number of tales in his very own, down-to-earth style.
His stories have a ring of authenticity. In my opinion he has “walked the walk” before putting pen to paper to create a story. His stories are rather special, and unique.
TOP END STORIES – break your heart.
If you want to know more about life in the Old N.T. Say?
Or you want to know something about the people who spent a lot of time in the swamps, the jungles, and the outback plains of the Northern Territory? Well, you could grab a copy.
Some stories are funny. The following excerpt from one of Billy’s stories illustrates the point. We used to say, up shit creek in a barbed wire canoe with no paddle. People generally got the idea that things were not going so good.
Here is how Billy begins the story.
Up a creek with out a paddle dad had gone to town to sell the catch the Barramundi reef fish and mudcrabs froggy and I were left to look after the camp so we had decided to go up to the triples where the creek go narrow and chase some snapper every thing was going good until we got to the area we were going to fish but just before we got there we herd a noise.
Things were going good until?
Some stories are sad.
Some are rather poignant.
While others are plain amusing. Here we go with Billy.
TOP END STORIES AND WILD BRONCO RIDING.
Picture of Billy as a well-known buckaroo at an early age.
TOP END STORIES – THE TOUGH LESSON.
People write stories for different reasons. I myself tend to write in the form of the old reminisce thing. Billy goes a fair bit further and many of Billy’s stories have a lesson – a moral of the story kind of thing.
I think a lot of us like to find a point – the moral of the story is?
In all, you will be entertained and educated at the same time.
Look at this crazy bullshit story. Excerpt.
Standing in bullshit I was around 9 or 10 years old Peter Bar and dad were working together and Peter was a big man and over six foot sort of guy you see in the pub and keep saying to you self yep the hole bar is yours Pete,
This is just an example of Billy’s sense of humour and his very own recollection of the facts. The stories flow like froth from the keg of beer standing just in reach. A laugh a minute kind of thing, but beer flavoured.
TOP END STORIES – DEADLY DANGER AND BEAUTY.
Animals and birds abound.
TOP END STORIES – HUNTING.
There are some interesting hunting pics, too. Here is a good photo of a big boar. I shot one just like this at Black Jungle back the early 80s. I will shortly publish that story on this site – true story “jump out of moving land drover, forward roll, reload, aim and fire” – by Leighton Clark.
Other stories of mine can be found at my other website The Crocodile Chronicles Australia.com. https://leightonclark.com.au/the-sixth-season-gudjewg/

Spread out like a banquet, and flat out like a lizard drinking, too right there are a lot of great photographs of rather unique subjects, like buffalo hunting, crocs, and feral cattle.
Enjoy guys.
