AUSTRALIAN BOOKS.

Australian books – books written by Australians for Australians and people all over the world.

These stories are unique, and special, because they are conceived by, or articulated by, a rather unique set of people living in a land that is different to most places in the world.

Stories may be about nature in a vast island so big it is a continent. They may be about colonisation and settlement. We might read about huge cattle stations, sheep stations, the indigenous element, or the creatures that inhabit this place we call home.

Some stories are about the people in this land. Originally settled by people of British stock, we are now a land with an incredible mix of nations and beliefs.

My own stories are a mix in themselves. Some of the writing will focus on me, and my pretty incredible life, or perhaps on my family, for fun.

But on story is about one man and one crocodile. This is the Sixth Season, Gudjewg, which is the onset of the wet season, a time of birth and renewal. This is also the time when the crocodile eggs begin to hatch. Birth of another predator.

LEIGHTON CLARK

A LOT OF MY STORIES ARE TRUE - OR PARTLY TRUE.

In the vein of the classic Australian Book my novel covers wild country, a huge piece of the land, interesting characters, and wild animals. There is also the beauty of the natural landscape. The story about one man and one crocodile is a story, but within this story there is an awful lot of truth. I knew the man who blew his own hand off with dynamite. I know how cool he was upon his arrival at hospital. I knew his fellow companions at the beach camp. Lydia Wimpey, and Alice. So that is a different story, but philosophers know that there is truth in all stories.
